November is Native American Heritage Month, and UC San Diego is celebrating the rich traditions and important contributions of Native people. All are invited to the kickoff luncheon, which will feature a keynote by Ryan RedCorn, writer and story editor on the popular Hulu series "Reservation Dogs."

UC San Diego recently became the first University of California campus to unveil a National Panhellenic Council plaza. The space recognizes the “Divine Nine,” a collection of historically Black Greek-letter organizations dedicated to community building and changemaking through fellowship.

This summer 19 newly admitted students took part in the five-week PATH Summer Academy at the School of Arts and Humanities. Throughout August and September, the group participated in hybrid workshops to get to know resources, made new friends and took part in field trips around San Diego.

A fresh academic year has officially begun at UC San Diego and the campus is bustling with activity. More than 150,000 first year and transfer students applied to join the university, over 32,000 were admitted and an estimated 10,000 new undergraduate students are expected to enroll this fall.

This summer high school students gained access to college-level online courses that built their confidence and academic transcript through the new Discover UC San Diego program. Also, more than 700 incoming first year students took part in the 45th annual Summer Bridge to prepare for fall quarter.
